Crackdown: the Man vs. the Mother

Show of hands: how many of you have been to the roof of a building on campus?

OK, how many of you have fallen off? I dare say that nobody in the history of Judson has fallen from a roof . . . at least not accidentally.

My sisters, a dear, dear tradition, fondly remembered by many a Judson woman, is in danger of becoming extinct. It seems that someone (Mr. Scrooge McMoneybags), who shall remain nameless, overheard alumnae and current students refecting upon their rooftop excursions. Nevermind that all parties involved had survived to tell about it. Fresh padlocks have been purchased, doors have been locked, and pretty soon windows might even be barred.

I've volunteered to spend every night perched atop WMU just making sure nobody else climbs up there. After all, we don't want anyone to damage the roof.

Did this blog sound anything like Mrs. Williams' column Martha's Vineyard? She's my inspiration. A good time was had by all.

I am cracking up..."a good time was had by all"...love Mrs. Martha!

Okay so I am a little distraught...having a bird's eye view over campus at night is one of the most beautiful sights a Judson girl can behold...Mr. McMoneybags has to be stopped!

Seriously this could get me on a tirade about personal responsibility and no one wants to see that...but if an ADULT girl fell from a rooftop because SHE climbed up on it...well then that is not The Mother's fault...but since none have fallen yet in oh...OVER A CENTURY I think we're pretty safe doing without padlocks and bars...

to hell in a handbasket, i tell you. i'm thinking its time the alumnae rise up and take judson back. have they banned late night walks in graveyards and such as well?

...not to mention that padlocks and bars are a potential fire hazard...and if my memory serves me correctly JC's had more fires than damsels falling from rooftops!

Well, how can there always be a Judson if there is not the experience of climbing out into the wildness that is the rooftops?!

Where does Scrooge want Judson Women to be mischievous if not ontop of the academic buildings and dorms? Anyone for a venture down to the Swamp? (or where ever those scandelous ladies are partaking in libations now...)

You're so brave to sit on top of the building. You should wear your cape for sure!
